what kind of things counselling help with?

Counselling or Talking Therapy can help with a range of problems. Sometimes it is a single issue that is overwhelming us, perhaps something historic has had a knock on effect on our lives. Often I find, people come for counselling at a tipping point. A crisis will occur such as bereavement, redundancy, divorce (among other things) and this will be the last straw. Our self esteem is often a casualty. It can feel overwhelming to be around people. We might find ourselves angry, depressed, anxious or in an uncharacteristically low mood. Stress can start to affect our relationships with friends, family or work. Life has a way of going sideways on us, all of us. Loss of any kind can generate a deep mourning process. Our own health may start to go or the health of someone close to us. Maybe we choose to zone out or try to numb ourselves. We may wish we weren’t alive. An integrative counsellor can work with you to match your needs. It may be that I can be of service or point you to someone else with a particular area of expertise to help you.

If you would like a chance for someone to see you for who you truly are and value you for that. If you would like someone to try and understand what it is like to live in your world. If you would like the time to work on your problems in an open-minded way. If you would appreciate having someone there with you while you put down your load for a while. If you want to improve your quality of life. If you are unhappy with the path you are on and would like to change. Then counselling could be helpful to you.
